Freewon China Co.,Ltd.

为3C精密零件打造“零缺陷”的数字化质量基石

1. Introduction

Freewon China Co., Ltd. (“Freewon”) is a leader in China’s precision metal parts manufacturing, deeply serving top global brands in consumer electronics, automotive, and tooling industries. Known for producing miniature, complex-shaped, and high-precision springs, contact pieces, and structural components, Freewon’s product quality directly affects the performance and reliability of end products. Facing extreme precision demands, rapid iteration cycles, and stringent supply chain management in consumer electronics, Freewon regards “zero defects” as its lifeline. To achieve this, Freewon partnered with Xi’an AEH Measurement Equipment Co., Ltd. (“AEH”) to introduce intelligent inspection units and the EMRP quality management platform, building a digital quality system that spans efficient full inspection and closed-loop data feedback, successfully transitioning from “meeting standards” to “defining reliability,” becoming a model of quality empowerment in precision manufacturing.

2. Case Background

The miniaturization and integration of consumer electronics impose near-limit dimensional and geometric tolerances on internal precision metal parts, with critical tolerances as tight as ±0.01mm. Freewon faced multiple challenges: the contradiction between inspection efficiency and coverage, as traditional sampling cannot guarantee 100% inspection and risks batch-level misses; the untapped value of data, with massive inspection results stored in paper or scattered electronic files, limiting statistical and process correlation analysis; and customer audit and traceability pressures, with international clients demanding electronically traceable, comprehensive quality data packages, often enabling “IQC exemption.” The manual-dominated inspection and data management model became a bottleneck restricting Freewon’s ability to secure higher-end orders and improve profitability.

3. Key Approaches

1. Concept Integration: Transforming from “quality inspection” to a “quality data factory.”

The project established the new quality philosophy of “100% inspection, data-driven, customer transparency.” The goal is to evolve the quality department from a cost center into a “factory” producing trustworthy quality data. This data serves not only internal accountability but also acts as a “product” to serve customers and prove reliability, aligning with AEH’s vision of internalizing high quality as a core competitive advantage.

2. Hard-Core Implementation: Deploying flexible intelligent inspection units for automated full inspection.

To handle diverse and high-volume complex-shaped parts, Freewon introduced AEH’s modular intelligent inspection units integrating high-precision vision measurement systems and industrial robots. Using RFID to auto-identify batches and triggering corresponding NET.DMIS measurement programs, the units operate 24/7 with automated loading, positioning, and measurement. Composite measurement technology within the units intelligently switches between vision and contact probes, quickly capturing 2D contours and precisely measuring critical depths and heights, ensuring “one setup, full dimension capture.” This reduced single-piece inspection time by over 60%, making 100% inspection economically viable daily.

3. Software-Driven: Building an end-to-end quality data chain with the EMRP platform.

All inspection data is transmitted in real-time to AEH’s EMRP intelligent quality management platform, the project’s “brain.” The platform offers three core functions:

  • Real-time SPC and alerts: monitors key dimensions with SPC control charts, issuing immediate alerts on abnormal trends or deviations to production and process teams, stopping issues early.
  • Digital reports and traceability: automatically generates structured electronic quality report packages per batch, including detailed measurement data, charts, and certificates, with unique trace codes accessible by customers via authorized interfaces, enabling “IQC exemption.”
  • Process optimization loop: correlates inspection data with equipment and tooling info for big data analysis, quickly pinpointing root causes like mold wear or machine drift, guiding preventive maintenance and process tweaks, closing the loop from “inspection-report” to “inspection-analysis-optimization.”

4. System Empowerment: Supporting digital system reliability with stringent standards.

Freewon adheres to strict quality standards like IATF 16949. AEH ensures data authority from the ground up: the NET.DMIS software algorithms are PTB-certified by Germany, guaranteeing international credibility; equipment undergoes 48-hour continuous stability testing and extensive calibration, assuring long-term reliability. This foundation ensures all digital quality data is metrologically sound and traceable.

4. Lessons Learned

Freewon’s digital quality transformation offers a replicable blueprint for high-volume, high-precision parts manufacturers. It proves that in micrometer-level competition, quality advantage stems not only from excellent equipment and processes but also from converting quality capability into data assets and operating them efficiently.

The project helped Freewon reduce customer complaints by 70%, securing and expanding its core position in top-tier supply chains through outstanding quality data delivery. More profoundly, AEH’s integrated “intelligent hardware + unified software + management platform” solution organically connects isolated inspection actions into a continuously self-optimizing, customer-transparent quality ecosystem. This model boosts internal efficiency and rebuilds trust with customers, elevating quality assurance from passive inspection acceptance to proactive quality trust output, providing key support for building China’s precision manufacturing brand.
